today i turned 28 years old. i want to remember at this time in my life the things that i can't live without.

• my dvr - i watch TOO much tv but i couldn't do it without my dvr. i don't have to be home at a certain time to see one of my favorite shows, i know that it will be recorded and waiting for me!
• diet coke - it is my drug of choice. i like it from a restaurant with a slice of lime. i like it with cherry at ruby's. i like it in the can, sometimes a couple times a day!
• my truck - i love my truck! it's comfortable, smooth and simply awesome. i can take it out in the desert and be confident that i won't get stuck. (at least i haven't gotten stuck yet!)
• nice people - like the guy at CVS who gave my son a yellow balloon today just cuz. there needs to be more people in the world like him. he made my sons day! and that makes me so happy.
• my career - i didn't know that i was gonna be a hair dresser all my life. the realization came when i was 18 thanks to a family friend. once i started beauty school it was all over for me. i literally fell in love with doing hair. on my business card it says "hair stylist/daymaker". what is a daymaker you ask? i make peoples day when they come in and get their hair done. i style it that much straighter or change it for the better and you just feel better after your roots and dead ends disappear. i love making money at something that i love to do everyday. (even tho it is a slight miracle i actually style my own hair on a daily basis!)
• my seat belt diaper bag - a few years ago my girlfriends went in on my first harvey seat belt bag for my birthday. i have been hooked ever since. thank you to sterling for the diaper bag as on anniversary present last year!
• hershey hugs or peanut butter twix bars - yes these are 2 of my guilty pleasures and i can probably blame these things on my baby weight still hanging on.
• my compaq laptop - i love sitting on the couch watching tv and cruising the internet, facebook or blogging at the same time. ( american idol is on right now actually!)
• my friends - sue for walking with me on a weekly basis. caroline for taking my to dinner and a movie for my birthday. kathleen for all the advise and support. lynda for always making me laugh and boosting my self confidence. i could go on forever....
• my sisters - for danielle convincing brad to drive down from LA to go to dinner with the fm on a monday night and for calling me at 10pm tonight to sing me an awful version of happy birthday with the. for adrienne being the best nanny to her favorite nephew
• the gospel - i do not know where i would be if my biological parents decided to put me up for adoption through the state and not lds social services. i love the church. i love the book of mormon. i love serving in the young women program. i love wandering the halls during sacrament meeting with jaxson and getting him used to being at church every sunday. i love watching sterling teach the 11 year old boys about the gospel and seeing them get it. i love the prophet, whoever he may be at the time, he always knows what to say to me. i love the savior for suffering for me and prompting me to do his will and not my own.
• my son - jaxson dean mendenhall. he will smile one second and melt my heart. later that day he will decide he doesn't need an afternoon nap and spend an hour partyin in his crib, which frustrates me to no end. he will eat all of his breakfast, half of his lunch and give me a run for my money with dinner. everyday is different with him. i wouldn't change it for the world.
• my hubby - we have known each other since we were 14. we have been married for 6 and a half years. we can finish each others sentences, know what the other is thinking, predict what the other is gonna do next. he is my other half. (i think i am his better half!) he knows more about cars, dirt bikes, stereos, cameras and any other electronic on the planet then anyone i know. he puts the laundry away for me almost every week cuz that is the part i hate the most. we have a mutual love for double stuff oreos. he works his tail off every day for what he calls peanuts but has the determination to make the most of everyday. loves his son more and more each day. he is the best dad and is looking forward to teaching jaxson all he needs to know in life.

i can probably think of more but these are on the top of my list. i love my life and i try so hard to live it to the fullest because you don't know what tomorrow will bring.
